Themi Venturas will be among the acts performing at the inaugural Gala Awards Ceremony of the Association of National Olympic Committees in Bangkok ©Themi Venturas ProductionsPerformers from all over the world will feature at the inaugural Gala Awards Ceremony of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) here on Friday (November 7).


The inaugural event will provide a "unique opportunity to celebrate and honour the outstanding achievements of Olympic athletes and NOCs", ANOC officials claimed.

Traditional dance and musical performance will add to the international feel, with each performer reflecting unique cultural aspects of each continental federation.

Africa will be represented by award-winning Themi Venturas Productions from South Africa who will perform a traditional dance of the Zulu people entitled "Silencing the Hurricane".

Brazilian dancers SRCOM-25 AÑOS will bringing a Pan American vibe, as well as a taste of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, performing "America to the Beat of the Samba".

In a slightly more traditional sense, Global Raytur from China will perform the 500-year old water drum dance of the Miao ethnic group.

Europe will be represented by Spanish flamenco star Cecilia Goméz Danza.

Te Matatini Kapa Haka Aotearoa from New Zealand will perform the haka dance, a traditional war dance performed by the Māori tribe most associated with the All Blacks.

"We are delighted to announce the cultural performers for the ANOC Gala Awards Dinner," said ANOC President Sheikh Ahmad Al Fahad Al Sabah, who sees the Gala Awards as key part of his Presidential legacy.

"We want the event to be a true celebration of our diversity and a festival of sporting achievement.

"Part of what makes ANOC so special and unique is it represents 204 countries from all around the world.

"Sport has the power to bring us all together and unite us and that is what we will be celebrating at the ANOC Gala Awards Dinner.

"The event will be about more than individual athletic performances, it will also be about promoting the tireless and sometimes unrecognised work the NOCs do for their athletes."

The ANOC Gala Awards Dinner will be attended by the best athletes from London 2012 and Sochi 2014, International Olympic Committee members, International Federations, future host and candidate cities.

It will feature team and individual awards for men and women from both the London 2012 and the Sochi 2014 Olympic Games.

An NOC, athlete and coach of the year will be acknowledged, along with a "breakthrough NOC of the year".

The event will be broadcast live in high-definition on TrueVisions, the leading pay-television broadcaster in Thailand, to more than 20 broadcasters around the world, as well as distributed across major international news outlets.
