September 1 - Ukraine highlighted why they will be a strong gold medal gold medal contender at the London 2012 Paralympic Games by claiming a dramatic victory at the 2010 Cerebral Palsy International Sports & Recreation Association (CPISRA) Football 7-a-Side European Championships in Glasgow.



Competing at the impressive indoor facility at Toryglen Regional Football Centre, Ukraine defeated Russia 9-8 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in normal time of the final meaning that they finished the tournament without losing a game.

The final was a repeat of the gold medal match at the Beijing 2008 Paralympics which similarly saw Ukraine defeat Russia.

Ireland rounded off an impressive tournament by picking up third place as they avenged their loss to the Netherlands in the gold medal match of the BT Paralympic World Cup in May by beating the Dutch 2-0 in Glasgow.

Meanwhile, hosts Scotland took fifth place with a 1-0 win over England in a tight contest between the big rivals.

Spain took seventh with a 4-0 win over Australia while Denmark beat Finland 3-2 to claim ninth and round of the tournament.
