August 30 - Nanjing, the next hosts of the Summer Youth Olympic Games in 2014, have been warned against "giantism" by Jacques Rogge, the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), who is visiting the Chinese city.

August 24 - Girls boxing could be introduced at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics Games in Nanjing after the International Amateur Boxing Association (AIBA) said they wanted it added to the programme.

January 13 - Poznan Mayor Ryszard Grobelny (pictured second right) claims he is still confident of the Polish city being chosen to host the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics despite the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Evaluation Report released last week suggesting that Chinese city Nanjing are in pole position.
