Among to carry the Torch was Turin 2006 skiing bronze medallist Antonella Confortola and Olympic skater Paolo Bacchini.

The first stop on the venue visit was Alba di Canazei due to host ice hockey during the Games.

The Torch was greeted by the town's Mayor Cloch Mariano and an enthusiastic crowd of locals, including primary and secondary schoolchildren.

Ice hockey player Dantone Thomas, who appeared at the 2007 Universiade in Turin, was one of the local athletes who carried the Torch as it made its way through the town.

From there the Torch's next stop was in Pozza di Fassa, which is shadowed by the impressive Dolomites.

The Ski Stadium Val di Fassa is due to host skiing events during the Games and in the town's main square Piazza di Comm, Mayor Tulio Dellagiacoma greeted the Torch party before declaring "the occasion of the Universiade [shows} at the international level the potential of our community in hosting major [sports] events."

Special mention was also made to the students of the Fassa Ladin School who helped in the design of the medals that will be used for the Universiade.

Predazzo was the next stop on the Tour where once again the Torch, known as the "Gentian of the Alps", was afforded an audience with the town's Mayor Mary Bosin who enthusiastically said: "We already have a lot of snow to ensure the success of the event.

"[We are] now keenly waiting for the start of the event."

Predazzo is due to host ski jumping and Nordic-combined disciplines.

After a brief stop in the headquarters of the Alpine Police, it was on to Lake Tesero which will be home to Nordic skiing, cross-country skiing and biathlon.

Confortola, who took team cross-country skiing bronze in Turin 2006, was on-hand to greet the Torch before it continued onto Cavalese where Bacchini carried it around another venue that will stage ice hockey.

The Ice Rink Pine Stadium in Baselga di Pine, which will host speed skating and curling, was the next stop for the Torch.

Baselga Mayor Hugh Grisenti thanked the many local volunteers for their efforts in preparing the town for the Universiade.

The Ice Rink in Peregrine was the final destination of the day where deputy Mayor Daniela Casagrande and the region's Councillor for sports, Demozzi Franco received the Torch which was carried by local athletes and was handed over to Trentino 2013 President, Sergio Anesi.

The next scheduled stop for the Torch is a visit to 1972 Olympic Games host city Munich.
