The Games Organising Committee invited 70 members of the Asian Sports Press Union (ASPU) from 30 different countries to learn more about media services for the event, which takes place in the South Korean city from July 3 to 14 next year.

The meeting, which took place as part of the 17th Asian Sports Press Union Congress, which was attended by International Sports Press Association first vice-president Esat Yilmaer, ASPU President Faisal Al Qanai and Korea Sports Press Union President Kim Kyung-ho, also included information on overall Games preparations, including infrastructure.

"The Gwangju Universiade will become an event that contributes to the development of sports in Asia, together with the city of Gwangju and the Republic of Korea," Kim Yoon-suk, Gwangju 2015's secretary general, said.

Al Qanai expressed his organisation's and support for Gwangju 2015.

"Our wish is the success of the 2015 Gwangju Universiade," he said.

"Your success is our success, so we will cooperate in any way we can for the 2015 Gwangju Universiade to become a global festival where everyone becomes one."
