Smith, a bronze medallist at last month's World Championships over the Austrian border in Kreischberg, overhauled Swedish rival Anna Holmlund to take the win this time around, while France's Ophelie David took bronze.

It was a case of after the Lord Mayor's show for Austrian world champion Andrea Limbacher, as she finished down in 13th place, while overall World Cup leader Marielle Thompson was absent.

The Canadian remains on 300 points, 45 points ahead of Holmlund in the standings, with Smith moving up to third, 30 points behind her Swedish rival.

"I was just thinking that I wanted to win in my homeland," said Smith afterwards.

"My start was really bad, but I knew that I had really fast skis and I just put everything into my technique so that I could pass Anna on the last jump."

There was success for another World Championship bronze medallist in the men's event as Victor Oehling Norberg took the win, as well as the lead in the overall World Cup standings.
