September 5 - Viessman has extended sponsorship deal with the International Luge FederationGerman heating systems manufacturer Viessman has extended its sponsorship agreement with the International Luge Federation (FIL) by another four years, and will now run until the end of the 2017-2018 season, taking in the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang.

The firm will also continue its partnership with Germany's Bobsleigh and Sled Sports Federation (BSD) for the same period.

The new agreement sees Viessman, based in Allendorf, continue its association with luge which now extends back to 1993 when the firm first became involved in the sport and for the past 17 years it has been the main sponsor of the FIL.

It will also continue to be the title sponsor of the FIL Luge World Cup series which consists of nine events taking place throughout the season, including a men's and women's singles competition, doubles and a mixed team relay competition.

In addition Viessman has individual sponsorship deals with some of the top German athletes in luge, including Vancouver 2010 singles champions Tatjana Huefner and Felix Loch as well as doubles world champions Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt.

German sports marketing firm RGS Sportmarketing helped to negotiate the new deal which comes on the back of the FIL extending its partnership with high-tech Kevlar helmet providers Uvex until the end of the 2017/18 season.
