December 27 - Dean Lukin (pictured) is hoping to follow in the footsteps of his famous father and qualify for Australia's team the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi only a few months after taking-up weightlifting.

December 16 - Baldev Raj Gulati, forced out as the secretary general of the Indian Weightlifting Federation (IWF) last month following a series of doping scandals, has put himself forward as a candidate for the reconstituted organisation when elections are held later this month.

November 24 - Former weightlifter Alan Ogilvie (pictured), who won three medals at the 1990 Commonwealth Games and represented Britain in two Olympics, was today jailed for three years for tricking young boys into "cybersex" sessions.

November 23 - The process to elect new officers for the Indian Weightlifting Federation has begun after the previous group of officials were forced to resign following the drugs scandal that threatens to keep the home team out of the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi next year.

November 17 - The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) are to hold elections for the Indian Weightlifting Federation (IWF) after its leadership stood down claiming "moral responsibility" for the doping scandals that are threatening to prevent them being able to compete in the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi next year.

November 16 - India's Sports Minister M.S. Gill (pictured) has demanded an explanation and a public apology from the country's weightlifting federation for another doping scandal that could result in the host nation not having any lifters competing at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.

October 27 - Former weightlifter Alan Ogilvie (pictured), who won three medals at the 1990 Commonwealth Games and represented Britain in two Olympics, is facing another prison sentence after he pleaded guilty to having "cyber sex" with under-age boys over the internet.

October 27 - China wants its men's weightlifting team to be even more successful at the London 2012 Olympics than it was in Beijing last year, when they won the gold medal in half the events contested.
