Pedro León Torres has been re-elected President of the Venezuela Weightlifting FederationAugust 30 - Pedro León Torres has been re-elected President of the Venezuela Weightlifting Federation.

The incumbent received 74 of the possible 79 votes at the election, which took place at the Venezuelan Olympic Committee headquarters.

Other elections at the meeting saw Eduardo González re-elected as general secretary, while José Caballero, Eddie Suárez, Jumar Guedez, Luis Leonardo Silva and César España were elected to the Executive Board for terms running through to 2017.

Venezuela was represented in the sport by one man and two women at the London 2012 Olympics.

Pan American Games silver medallist Junior Sánchez, who competed in the men's under 69 kilogram, finished fifth, women's under 48kg athlete Betsi Rivas, a former Pan American champion, finished in tenth place and women's under 53kg competitor Inmara Henríquez finished tenth.
