July 7 - Triathlon Live is to take place at eight locations across the United Kingdom during this summer's London 2012 Olympic Games, Triathlon England has announced.
Live hubs will allow fans to "Give it a Tri" and experience how it feels to compete in a triathlon as well as enjoy the opportunity to cheer on the Team GB athletes via big screens from August 4 to 7.
The locations include: Bristol – Millennium Square; Cardiff – The Hayes; Coventry – Millennium Place; Edinburgh – Festival Square; Leeds – Millennium Square; Leicester – Humberstone Gate; London – Hyde Park (as part of BT London Live); and Manchester – Exchange Square.
Participants will be able to challenge themselves in a cutting-edge Endless Pool (pictured below) and test their abilities against a simulated current suitable to swimmers of all abilities before cycling and running on state-of-the-art equipment.
Individual and team competition prizes, for both adults and youngsters, will also be up for grabs.
Triathlon Live is a joint initiative run by the International Triathlon Union, British Triathlon and London 2012.
Jem Lawson, chair of Triathlon England, said: "We're delighted to be bringing Triathlon Live to each of these eight locations, alongside Welsh Triathlon and Triathlon Scotland, and can't wait to see what each city has to offer – we might even inspire the next Team GB triathlete at one of our events!
"Triathlon Live is a celebration of our growing sport in an iconic year – it's important to spread the message about our great sport alongside giving people the opportunity to 'Give it a Tri' themselves."
