Due to take place tomorrow, the 12th edition of the Championships will see around 60 athletes take part in an event organised the Brazilian University Sport Association (CBDU) and International University Sports Federation (FISU) in the country's capital Brasília, which is due to host the 2019 Summer Universiade.

The event will start with the swimming leg of 1500 meters in the Paranoá Lake, followed by a 40 kilometre bike course - four laps of 10 km - crossing over the JK Bridge and ends with a 10km run.

The event will be the second World University Championships of the year, following the cross-country in Entebbe, Uganda in March, and is the first of three Championships to take place in Brazil in 2014.

The other two events are sixth rugby sevens in São Paulo and the second 3x3 basketball in Salvador.

"The CBDU is excited about the responsibility to organise all these World University Championships in Brazil, especially the triathlon," said Luciano Cabral, President of the CBDU and FISU vice-president.

"It will work as a training and experience gain for all of us who will be working on the organisation of the 30th Summer Universiade in Brasília in 2019."
