The appointment comes after a strong year for British Taekwondo both on and off the mat.

The 2014 Grand Prix series saw Olympic champion Jade Jones take gold in the final event in Mexico, before she had the honour of receiving the first ever World Taekwondo Federation Female Athlete of the year accolade.

The Federation also established its first ever Para Taekwondo Committee as the sport continues to garner support both in Great Britain and across the world.

Amy Truesdale continues to lead the way in this respect as she was crowned world, European and Commonwealth champion throughout the year.

"I am obviously both thrilled and humbled in being included in this year's Honours List," said Tranter upon receiving his OBE.

"I do give my everything to the role of President; it's a privilege that I enjoy, and one which comes with immense responsibility."

He added: "Of course, the achievements that this honour recognises are about more than just me.

"I am blessed in being able to have such supportive colleagues on our Council and Executive Boards, who all help in driving our sport forward.

"It's also recognition of just how far our clubs, coaches and athletes here in British Taekwondo have come in recent years.

"Finally, I must thank my wife and family for giving me their unconditional support, none of it would be possible without them."

British Taekwondo extended its "heartfelt congratulations" to Tranter for this "well deserved" achievement, before looking forward to another successful year for the organisation and all its athletes.
