The WTF have launched a new WTF Profile system ©WTFThe World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) has launched a new player profile scheme enabling national federations, athletes, media and fans to access detailed information on an individual's world and Olympic ranking points, it was announced today.

The scheme was designed with the aim of promoting taekwondo in an interactive way and bringing the WTF community together, officials claimed.

"As did our PSS [protective scoring system] and video replay, this latest development will indeed vault the WTF atop many International Federations not only with respect to our rankings and profile, but most importantly, the attendant transparency of the process," said Anthony Ferguson, a WTF Council member, who is President of the Trinidad and Tobago Taekwondo Association.

Mark Kaufmann, the events manager of the WTF Global Membership System (GMS), added: "Having the results and rankings in one central, easily accessible location is a tremendous resource for our members.

"This site will generate excitement in all kyorugi weight categories and provide much needed structure for future competitions."

As well as giving information on ranking points, the system will also provide a detailed background on each athlete, including name, picture, age, Dan rank, club name, if applicable, country and ranking divisions.

More functions are also set to be released in due course as the WTF looks to refine the system.

"In the future, we will see latest results, detailed statistics on the fights, videos, pictures, bio information and much more available through this platform as time progresses," said Justin Tenbeth, the director of the WTF GMS.

"This will provide the necessary information to media and TV broadcasters to give more exposure for our athletes and the sport in general to continue to popularise taekwondo globally."

For those that hold WF Licences, the system will also provide historical results which can be viewed per weight category, Member National Association or athlete.

"An added value for all members who hold a WTF Licence is the ability to see results of past and current G-rated tournaments," added Tenbeth

"This is by clicking on the Results tab on the WTF Licence System."

"The WTF GMS Team, our IT partner, HangAStar, and our colleagues in the Korean office have worked tirelessly for the last several months to import the last five years historical Results and Rankings into the GMS,"
