South Korea add another three gold to medal haul at World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships in Mexico ©WTFSouth Korea have continued their superb early form at the World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships in Aguascalientes, Mexico, adding three more gold medals on the second day of the competition.

The Koreans dominated the opening day of action as they secured three of the nine gold medals on offer.

An additional three golds on day two of the Championships has cemented their position atop the medal table, despite a decent outing by China, who took two of the nine gold medals available inside the Olympic Gymnasium.

In fact, a total of 16 countries secured a medal on day two of the Championships with Spain, the Philippines and Turkey winning one gold medal each, and hosts Mexico grabbing four silver medals and two bronze.

South Korea's first gold of the day, and fourth of the Championships, came in the female team over 30 category as a trio of Koreans garnered 8.3 points for the win.

Mexico took silver with a score of 7.9 while the United States and Spain settled for a bronze medal apiece.

Korea's fine form continued in the female individual under 60 division as Young-ae Seo finished on 8.15 points for a slice of gold.

Mexico were once again left to settle for silver, just 0.04 points behind, while Germany and Israel secured the bronze medals.

It was a similar situation in the junior pairs division where Korea edged out Mexico by 8.49 points to 8.26.

Here, the bronze went to Chinese Taipei and Denmark.

A Chinese resurgence came in the form of Xing Yuan as he sealed gold in the freestyle male individual under-17 division.

His score of 7.680 in the final round was enough to edge Vietnam's Minh Phuc Vo, whose 7.520 was enough for the silver medal.

Bronze medals went to Russia's Sergei Slepich and Australia's Lachlan Stewart, who took 7.420 and 7.340 points, respectively.

A second Chinese gold was won in the male team cadet division as they saw off a tight encounter with the United States to take the win on 8.15 points.

Mexico and Spain earned the bronze in this category.

A first Spanish gold of the Championships was won in the female individual under 40 division where Laura Kim Kim recorded 8.54 points for the win.

Mexico again took silver in this contest through Nohemi Santamaria, while bronze went to Korea's Eon-hwa Seong and Brazil's Manoela Pontual.

Turkey made it two in two for the Championships as Mevlut Pekcan garnered 8.45 points to win gold in the male individual under 40 category.

The Philippines' Ernesto Guzman took silver with 8.42 while Vietnam's Quoc Minh Nguyen and Korea's Jin-han Lee sealed bronze.

There was a bittersweet victory for Denmark's Lis Borring in the female individual over 65 category after she took gold with a score of 7.57.

Despite the win, the Danish athlete's record will not stand due to just two athletes competing in the category.

This is also the case for Erica Linthorst of the United States, who secured silver.
