South Korea's London 2012 silver medal winner Dae-hoon Lee won gold on the final day of action in Suzhou ©WTFSouth Korea and Spain shared the spoils on the final day of action at the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) Grand Prix Series in Suzhou, as Dae-hoon Lee and Eva Calvo Gomez took the two gold medals up for grabs.

In the men's under 68 kilogram category, Lee, an under 58kg silver medal winner at the London 2012 Olympics before moving up a weight division, was on superb form in crushing Russia's Vasilii Nikitin 19-6 in a one-sided final to win the gold medal.

To reach that stage, the 22-year-old had already negotiated a much trickier semi-final against eventual bronze medal winner, Behnam Asbaghikhanghah of Iran, after managing the winning point in a fourth golden-point round.

The other bronze medal was taken by Jiannan Huang of China.

In the women's under 57kg competition meanwhile, Gomez repeated her victory at the inaugural World Taekwondo Grand Prix in Manchester last December, overcoming another South Korean opponent, So-hee Kim 2-0.

She had required a fourth golden-point round to reach that stage after being locked at 4-4 at the end of the third round against Chinese Taipei's Li Cheng Tseng, while Kim also required a fourth golden-point round after tying at 11-11 against Japan's Mayu Hamada.

In the quarter-final Kim had already vanquished Great Britain's London 2012 Olympic champion Jade Jones, by an 8-3 margin.

The late flurry of two medals was enough for South Korea to overcome the host nation on the medals table, as they finished with two gold, two silver and one bronze medal ahead of the Chinese tally of two gold and two bronze.

Taiwan finished in third place with one gold and one bronze medal, while Isle of Man, Gabon and Spain were the three other nations to secure gold medals.

A total of 18 countries took home at least one medal from the Suzhou Sports Centre, with 236 athletes from 57 different countries participating overall.

The next leg of the 2014 World Taekwondo Grand Prix Series is due to take take place from August 29 until 31 in Kazakhstan's capital city Astana, before the competition returns to Manchester between October 24 and 26.

The 2014 WTF World Grand Prix Final is then scheduled for December 13- and 14 in Queretaro, Mexico.
