Peter Scudner has been elected as chairman of USA Table Tennis ©USATTUSA Table Tennis (USATT) Board of Directors have announced Peter Scudner has been elected as chairman, his second stint in the position.

Scudner held the role from 2008 to 2012 and he has returned to take over from the outgoing Michael Babuin, who has completed his two-year term.

"This is an exciting time for USA Table Tennis, with a generation of talented youth emerging in our sport," he said.

"I look forward to working with our new CEO, Gordon Kaye, and the entire Board, as we work to grow the sport of table tennis in the US."

The American table tennis team sent four competitors to the London 2012 Olympic Games, Timothy Wang, Ariel Hsing, Lily Zhang, and Erica Wu, and they also had representatives at the Paralympic Games.

They are set to send a team to the Pan-American and Parapan American Games, which take place in Toronto, this year, and Paralympic Sport and National Governing Body Organisational Development for the United States Olympic Committee chief Rick Adams is looking forward to Scudner being at the helm.

"We are very excited by the election of Peter Scudner as the next chairman of the Board at USA Table Tennis," said Scudner, a wealth management adviser with financial services firm Janney.

"Peter has shown great leadership during his time with USA Table Tennis, and we look forward to the continued success and growth of the organisation."

Scudner also has a keen interest in sport and as well as being on the USA Table Tennis Board of Directors since 2008, he also has past involvement in USA Archery and USA Triathlon.

"First and foremost, I would like to personally thank Mike Babuin for his exceptional service to our organization over the last two years, and I look forward to continuing to work with Mike as a member of the Board," Kaye said.

"It is an exciting time to be a part of the USATT team, and I greatly look forward to growing our sport and our organisation under Peter's leadership and guidance."

Scudner will be charged with continuing the development of sport across the United States, where USATT currently has over 9,000 members.
