NTV PlusFebruary 10 - The International Modern Pentathlon Union (UIPM) have agreed a major television rights deal with Russian network and production company NTV Plus to produce live television coverage of the UIPM World Cup Series and Senior World Championships for the next four years.


NTV Plus beat a number of companies to become UIPM's production partner in the next Olympic period in the lead up to Rio 2016 as they were appointed due to their vision, passion and experience in producing modern pentathlon events, officials claimed.

"This is a landmark deal for UIPM and we are very excited to be partnering up with such a big and prestigious company like NTV Plus," said UIPM President Dr h.c. Klaus Schormann.

"We believe they are the right partner for us to take UIPM's television project which has grown significantly over the past four years to the next level."

As part of the agreement, NTV Plus will produce live television coverage of the individual final days and mixed relay finals from six events a year for international distribution.

They will also produce a live webcast of each event, a television magazine show and news edits.

"I am very excited about this agreement, as NTV Plus is a famous Russian network and production company," said the UIPM's vice president for business affairs Viacheslav Aminov.

"This agreement is a new epoch in UIPM's history in the broadcast and popularisation of our great sport.

"NTV Plus brings with them three years of experience in online and live television broadcasting of modern pentathlon, especially riding and combined event.

"So we are looking forward to our very bright television future together with our new partner."

The first event to be produced by NTV Plus will be the opening World Cup event in Palm Springs in the United States, which is due to take place between February 20 and 24.
