Monday, 28 November 2011
November 28 - European judo bronze medallist Sophie Cox (pictured) will be among a host of British judoka taking part in the Olympic test event at the ExCeL London on December 3 and 4.
Cox, who has recently returned from injury, has already hit promising form having won bronze in last weekend's Amsterdam Grand Prix.
She will be among seven female Britons in the -57kg category.
British Judo has chosen a team from its domestic ranking list for the two-day event, which is being run with the sole purpose of a rehearsal for the organisers.
All competitors will gain invaluable experience as London 2012 replicate day three (-57kg, -73kg) and day five (-70kg, -90kg) of the Olympic programme.
Teams have been invited to enter one athlete per category except Great Britain who can enter more.
London 2012 expects around 100 athletes, 50 officials, 30 national technical officials, 39 international technical officials and 90 volunteers to join the judo team to make the test event run smoothly.
Meanwhile, five British judoka – Ashley McKenzie, Colin Oates, Euan Burton, Sarah Adlington and Karina Bryant – have been selected for a December tour of Asia, which will see them compete at the Tokyo Grand Slam and Qingdao Grand Prix.
