Zylberberg has been left out of the Argentina squad for the upcoming Sultan Azlan Shah Cup in Malaysia, the final warm up for London 2012, where the 34-year-old would have come up against Britain, who own the Falklands.

It is a further embarrassment to Argentina after the film was widely condemned as an attempt by the country's Government to confront Britain over the disputed territory, which the two nations fought a war over 30 years ago. 

In the advert, Zylberberg is shown running and training some of the Islands' most noted landmarks.

It ends with the slogan: "To compete on English soil, we are training on Argentine soil".

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) and even the agency that put the film together for the advert criticised it.



The Argentine Olympic Committee (COA) also issued a statement distancing themselves from the advert.

"Using the Olympic Games to make political gestures of any kind is not acceptable and we will conduct ourselves in the proper spirit of Olympism in all that we do in London and elsewhere," COA President Gerardo Werthein said.

Although having competed in two previous Olympic Games, Zylberbergt now appears unlikely to go to a third after the omission.

Argentina will also face the hosts Malaysia, India, South Korea, Pakistan and New Zealand in the seven team tournament, which last year was won by Australia.
