Simone Biles holds the most World Championship titles of any female American gymnast with six ©Getty ImagesSimone Biles claimed two more gold medals on the final day of the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Nanning to surpass Shannon Miller as the most successful female gymnast from the United States in terms of world titles.

Biles is now a six-time world champion - Miller has five titles - after adding balance beam and floor exercise gold medals to her collection.

The 17-year-old finished the Championships in China with five medals - becoming the first US woman to do so - after also picking up gold in in the all-round and team events, as well as winning silver in the vault.

Biles joins Miller and Nastia Liukin at second on the all-time list of American female medal winners at World Championships with nine, behind only Alicia Sacramone who has 10.

After winning bronze on the beam at last year's Championships in Antwerp, Biles upgraded to gold in Nanning posting a winning score of 15.100 points to finish ahead of China's Yawen Bai and defending champion Aliya Mustafina of Russia.

The American followed that by successfully defending her floor exercise title, finishing with a score of 15.333 points that included four complicated acrobatic passes.

Romanian Larisa Iordache took the silver medal while Mustafina had to settle for her second bronze of the day.

Commenting on the achievements of Biles, national team coordinator for the USA Gymnastics' women's team, Martha Karolyi, said: "There's no question that Simone is an extremely special gymnast with great physical abilities.

"It's a nice discipline behind that to work on the areas which [do not come] easy for her.

"It's almost like the best proof is how she won the world medal on [the] beam.

"That's usually not for bouncy girls so she had to put in great effort to make sure that she's doing the right job."

Elsewhere on the final day of action in the Guangxi Sports Centre Gymnasium, medals were handed out in the men's vault, parallel bars and horizontal bar events.

North Korean Ri Se Gwang followed his compatriot Hong Un-jong, who won gold in the women's vault yesterday, by taking top honours in the men's competition.

RI's two vaults earned him an average score of 15.416 points, securing him the win over Igor Radivilov of Ukraine who took silver with 15.333 points.

Jacob Dalton of the US picked up bronze, while defending champion Yang Hak Seon of South Korea finished a disappointing sixth.

There was better news for Ukraine in the parallel bars after Oleg Verniaiev squeezed past American Danell Leyva for gold.

Both men matched each other in difficulty, but the Ukrainian edged it with a higher execution score to leave 2011 world champion Leyva with silver.

Ryohei Kato of Japan pipped China's Deng Shudi for bronze.

Defending men's horizontal bars champion Epke Zonderland demonstrated his prowess in the discipline once more as he led qualification throughout, before a superb show of aerial skill in the final saw him clinch the gold once more with a total score of 16.225 points.

Olympic and world all-round champion Kohei Uchimura of Japan had no answer to the Dutchman's dominance and settled for silver with a score of 15.775 points.

A score of 15.000 points was enough to give Croatian Marijo Moznik the bronze medal.
