Both nations came into the event finals on the back of disappointing all-around results yesterday, where Spain finished 11th after a disastrous exercise with the balls and ribbons and Russia made unexpected errors with the clubs to finish fourth overall.

Spain, who began their all-around campaign with a scintillating performance with the clubs, repeated their complicated exercise without errors to score 17.433 points in Turkey.

Sandra Aguilar, Artemi Gavezou-Castro, Elena Lopez, Lourdes Mohedano and Alejandra Quereda made up the Spanish quintet.

Israel registered 16.983 to claim the silver medal, while Belarus, bronze medallists in the group all-around competition this year, finished third with 16.600.

Russia lived up to their potential in their only event final with the balls and ribbons, delivering an entertaining and technically precise routine to Turkish music to score 17.950.

The team consisted of Daria Avtonomova, Diana Borisova, Anastasiia Maksimova, Aleksandra Semenova, Anastasiia Tatareva and Maria Tolkacheva.

Bulgaria's dramatic routine saw them score 17.616 to earn the silver medal while Belarus stayed true to form, securing another third-placed finish with 17.466.

The 2015 Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships are due to be staged at the Porsche-Arena in the Stuttgart from September 7 to 13.
