Amanda Reddin_Team_GB_gymnastics_coachOctober 15 - Amanda Reddin, who coached Beth Tweddle to Olympic, world and European success, has been named head national coach for British Gymnastics' women's artistic programme.

Reddin, who will fill the vacancy created as former technical director Adrian Stan now moves to his new role of high performance coach development, takes up her appointment on November 1, with the first task being to put in place a coaching team that will begin preparations for the 2013 European Championships to be held in Moscow in April.

As coach at the City of Liverpool Gymnastics Club, Reddin – who herself competed at the Los Angeles 1984 Olympics – has led the club to multiple British team titles, while guiding the career of multiple world and European champion Tweddle and coaching Hannah Whelan, Jennifer Pinches, Emma Williams, and Aisling Williams to compete at world level for Great Britain.

In 2002, Reddin was named UK Coach of the Year and she has been a Team GB coach at four Olympic Games.

"It is a great honour to be appointed as head national coach and I'm excited to take on the challenge of continuing the great legacy left by Adrian Stan," Reddin said.

"I look forward to building relationships with coaches and gymnasts as we look ahead to European and World Championships in 2013."

Jane Allen, British Gymnastics chief executive officer said: "In appointing Amanda Reddin as head national coach for women's gymnastics, British Gymnastics is confident she will drive the women's national programme to the next level and hopefully replicate the fantastic results over the past summer.

"She has a proven track record for producing national team gymnasts with her Liverpool programme contributing three of the five members of the 2012 Olympic team."

Tim Jones, British Gymnastics Olympic performance director, added: "We are very excited to be able to announce this appointment.

"Amanda's knowledge of the system that had been put in place to put our British programme in the top tier of the world is second to none, but she also has a clear vision of the direction we now need to move forward in order to challenge for Olympic medals on a regular basis.

"I am sure this appointment will be well received within the discipline and we look forward to seeing Amanda making her mark through the course of this coming Olympic cycle."
