August 6 - MERC PGALuxury German luxury car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz has extended its agreement with the Professional Golf Association (PGA) of America which sees the company continue as a patron of the PGA in a deal that runs through until 2017.

Since 2010, Mercedes-Benz has been a patron of the PGA and under the terms of the new agreement it will become "Official Patron" and the "Official Vehicle" of The PGA of America, the PGA Championship and the Senior PGA Championship.

"We are delighted that Mercedes-Benz has once again recognised the great value of aligning with the PGA Professional and the game of golf by extending its relationship with the PGA of America and our high-profile spectator Championships," said Pete Bevacqua, chief executive of the PGA of America.

The German company has an extensive range of partnerships with a number of golf tournaments around the world which includes being an international partner of the US Masters and a partner of the Open Championship.

The new agreement with the PGA of America will also see Mercedes secure the US rights to title itself "Official Patron" of the 2014 Ryder Cup, taking place at Gleneagles in Scotland, and global rights, except in Europe, for the 2016 Ryder Cup in Hazeltine, Minnesota.
