Russia is set to unveil the emblem for the 2018 FIFA World Cup tomorrow ©Russia 2018The official emblem of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia is set to be revealed on the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow tomorrow.

The presentation of the emblem will be broadcast on the Vecherniy Urgant [Evening Urgant] programme on Russia's Channel One as part of a light show projection on the facade of the Bolshoi Theatre.

The Theatre is one of the most iconic and famous across the world and holds opera and ballet performances.

It can trace its roots back to March 28, 1776, when Catherine II granted the prosecutor, Prince Pyotr Urusov, the "privilege" of "maintaining" theatre performances of all kinds, including masquerades, balls and other forms of entertainment, for a period of ten years.

The Bolshoi building, which for many years now has been regarded as one of Moscow's main sights, was opened on October 20, 1856, on Tsar Alexander II's Coronation Day.

It is on the façade of this building that the emblem will be revealed tomorrow from 23:30 local time (Moscow Standard Time).

"The Bolshoi Theatre is one of the most recognisable symbols of Russia in the world, personifying the traditions that this country holds dear," said Russia 2018 chief executive Alexey Sorokin.

"We believe that the World Cup in Russia will be an event that millions of fans will remember for its unique atmosphere - reflecting the richness of our culture and the breadth of the Russian spirit, while the exciting official emblem of the 2018 FIFA World Cup will reflect the vibrancy of this tournament."

The light show will be also attended by speakers from Russia 2018 and a star from the world of football.
