England's World Cup defeat to Italy provoked a mocking tweet from the Football Association of Zambia ©Getty ImagesThe Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) was under fire after celebrating Italy's 2-1 victory over England in the FIFA World Cup in Brazil with a tweet hitting back at British media corruption allegations against its President Kalusha Bwalya.

Bwalya was one of the 30 African heads who, according to the Sunday Times in London, allegedly received bribes from former FIFA vice-president Mohammad Bin Hammam to influence the 2022 World Cup bid.

In its accusations, the British newspaper exposed Bwalya's emails to Bin Hammam, in which the FAZ President solicited and received $80,000 (£47,170/€59,051) for the FAZ and his personal expenditure.

Following England's opening group game loss to Italy on Saturday (June 14), a tweet on the official FAZ page, @FAZFootball, read, "very happy that England has lost. I wonder who they will blame..."

Instead of receiving the desired support, the rash tweet backfired on the "tweeter" with many incited by the "unprofessional" and "undisciplined" remark.

Many responded to the comment via the social media website, calling for the one responsible to be "fired" or "punished".

One such commentator, named njonginjo, wrote: "Oh dear me!! Chap behind this handle should be fired RT "@FAZFootball: Very Happy that England has lost. I wonder who they will blame..."

Another, Chalimba Phiri, added: "This is very unprofessional coming from an FA "@FAZFootball: Very Happy that England has lost. I wonder who they will blame...."

Others took to Facebook to give their opinion on the tweet with Bupe Mwenya stating: "An Idiot running ‪#‎FAZ twitter account cannot differentiate between a personal account or an official twitter handler.

"Lack of ethics and responsibility will put the association in trouble.

"That was sheer stupidity.

"FAZ lack of professional conduct has just gone global."

The tweet has since been taking down the FAZ with no comment given on the incident.
