UEFA has decided to postpone Israel's first Euro 2016 qualifier home game because of ongoing security concerns ©AFP/Getty ImagesUEFA has postponed Israel's Euro 2016 qualifier against Belgium because of security concerns in the country.

The match was scheduled for September 9 but has now been put back to March 31.

European football's governing body said the move followed "an agreement between the two concerned national associations".

The kick-off time and venue will be confirmed at a later stage, UEFA added.

On July 16, the UEFA Emergency Panel ruled that UEFA competition matches cannot be played in Israel until "further notice" due to the current security situation.

UEFA said today that ruling remains in place, putting in doubt its other home fixtures in qualifying for the Euro 2016 Championships.

It is due to host Bosnia and Herzegovina in Haifa on November 18.

Israel will then welcome Wales on March 28, three days before its rescheduled match against Belgium.

More than 2,000 people have been killed in the Israel-Gaza conflict since it began in July, with mostly Palestinian civilians dead.

Israel has had a number of planned sporting events either cancelled or relocated since the conflict began.

It will no longer host Argentina for their Davis Cup clash, after a ruling by the International Tennis Federation.

The Association of Tennis Professionals also cancelled the inaugural Negev Israel Open scheduled for September, while the International Federation of American Football pulled its Flag Football World Championship out of the country last month.
