Following a meeting of the FEI Bureau in Lausanne, it has been announced that Barcelona will host the FEI Nations Cup Final in 2015 after beating off a rival bid from Old Salem Farm in North Salem, New York.

That will represent the third consecutive year that the Catalan city will stage the final for the global team jumping series after staging the inaugural event in 2013 and this year's final also.

The United States had better luck in the form of Omaha, Nebraska which was chosen ahead of Hong Kong and 's-Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands to host the World Cup Jumping and World Cup Dressage Finals jointly in 2017.

The Hong Kong and Dutch bids had proposed to host the jumping and dressage events respectively.

The United States will also host the 2016 North America Jumping Championships for Young Riders and Juniors after Parker in Colorado was given the nod.

Sweden's Gothenburg was also successful with is joint bid to stage the 2017 European Championships for Jumping, Dressage, Para- Dressage and Driving with Rotterdam losing out in its bid to hold the European Jumping Championships on its own.

Rotterdam was chosen as the venue for the 2016 European Jumping Championship for Young Riders, Juniors and Children with Breda set to host the World Driving Championships Four in Hand also in 2016, while Ermelo joins its Dutch neighbours by hosting the 2015 World Vaulting Championship for Juniors.

Ermelo will also be the stage for the World Breeding Dressage Championship for Young Horses from 2016 through until 2018.

Malmo will join its Swedish counterpart as it will be the venue for next year's European Championships for Ponies in Jumping, Dressage and Eventing.

Meanwhile, Strzegom in Poland is celebrating after becoming the first Polish city to be chosen to host the senior European Eventing Championships in 2017, which have taken place biannually since 1953.

Strzegom beat off competition from Fontainebleau in France, which became the third French venue to stage the Championships in 2009.

"We have had some really fantastic bids for our major events," commented FEI secretary general Ingmar De Vos.

"It's very exciting that Omaha, which has the full support of the local community and Government, will be hosting both the Longines FEI World Cup Jumping and FEI World Cup Dressage Finals in 2017.

"And we are also very much looking forward to going to Gothenburg for the European Jumping, Dressage and Para-Dressage and Driving Championships in 2017, and to Strzegom for the European Eventing Championships 2017.

"We are also thrilled to have Barcelona hosting the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup Jumping Final for the third year in a row.

"It's become the home of the Furusiyya Final and we know the Organising Committee will do a fabulous job.

"The FEI always welcomes new venues for its Championships and Finals and it's good to see some different cities included in today's allocations."

Yesterday, the FEI announced that Bromont/Montreal in Canada will stage the 2018 World Equestrian Games.
