Jonathan Edwards will be the Master of Ceremonies at the 2013 FEI Awards GalaNovember 1 - Jonathan Edwards, Britain's Sydney 2000 Olympic triple jump champion, has been unveiled by the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) as the Master of Ceremonies for its 2013 Awards Gala, due to take in Switzerland next week.

The 47-year-old, who still holds the world record after jumping 18.29 metres at the 1995 World Athletics Championships and is now a television presenter, will join FEI President Princess Haya on stage to present the awards in the five categories of Longines Rising Star, Reem Acra Best Athlete, Development, Against All Odds and Best Groom.

As well as his athletic achievements, which also include a silver medal at the Atlanta 1996 Olympics and gold at the Manchester 2002 Commonwealth Games, Edwards also played a major role in the success of London 2012 as a board member and chairman of the Athletes' Committee.

"I have had the great pleasure of meeting the FEI President, HRH Princess Haya, on several occasions, including the London 2012 Olympic Games," he said.

"The FEI is a central part of the Olympic family and it is an honour to be part of this prestigious evening."

The Awards Gala, which will bring the FEI General Assembly to a close at the Casino Barrière de Montreux on November 7, is expected to attract more than 300 guests, including representatives of the 132 FEI member federations.
