Russia's Artur Ershov is the frontrunner in the men's omnium ©Getty ImagesRussia's Artur Ershov leads the way at the halfway point of the men's omnium at the European Cycling Union Elite Track European Championships in Guadeloupe.

Ershov finished second in the scratch race, fourth in the individual pursuit and third in the elimination race to score a total of 108 points, two clear of Spain's Unai Elorriaga Zubiaur and four ahead of Great Britain's Jon Dibben and Italy's Elia Viviani.

Meanwhile, in the men's 200 metre qualification at the Velodrome Amedee Detraux, France's Gregory Bauge was fastest, stopping the clock on 10.234sec, followed by Damian Zielinski of Poland and Pavel Kelemen of the Czech Republic.

Compatriot Benjamin Thomas came out on top in the men's point race with 37 points, while Italy's Liam Bertazzo and Germany's Henning Bommel secured second and third respectively.

The women's scratch race was won by Russia's Evgenia Romanyuta, with France's Laurie Berthon in second and Italy's Elena Cecchini in third.

Azerbaijan's Olqa Ismayilova was quickest in the women's 200m qualification, registering a time of 11.596, followed by Russia's Anastasiia Voinova and Germany's Kristina Vogel.

Tomorrow's action includes the conclusion of the men's omnium and the start of the women's equivalent event. 

The meeting is the first to carry qualifying points for the 2016 Olympic Games.
