Eurosport is set to broadcast two hours of live coverage of the British Cycling National Road Championships men's road race ©Getty ImagesBritish Cycling today announced there will be two hours live coverage of the men's road race at the British Cycling National Road Championships in Monmouthshire broadcast on British Eurosport, with highlights of the women's race also set to be aired.

The programme will be aired from 4pm to 6pm on Sunday (June 29).

It will be followed by highlights of the road race and the proceeding men's and women's individual time trial on ITV4 on Thursday (June 26) from 7p to 8pm.

Action from both the National Road and Time Trial Championships will then be available in full on the British Cycling YouTube channel from July 1.

"British Cycling is delighted to be working with both British Eurosport and ITV to bring live and same day highlights coverage of its national road championships to fans of British cycling," said Jonny Clay, British Cycling's cycle sport and membership director

"These channels are the home of cycling on TV in this country and as such we will be seeing these prestigious championships broadcast alongside some of the biggest bike races in the world.

"The courses that await Britain's top riders in Monmouthshire next week are challenging and fans can expect to tune in to some world class racing as they watch the country's best riders doing battle for the coveted red, white and blue jerseys on offer to the winners."

The time trials are due to take place on Thursday, starting and finishing at the Celtic Manor resort, where Alex Dowsett and Joanna Rowsell will be looking to defend their titles.

The elite men will race against the clock over two laps of the 21 kilometre course while the elite women and under-23 men will compete over one lap of the same course.

The blue-riband road races will take place on Sunday and will start and finish in Abergavenny Town Centre, with and Lizzie Armistead hoping to secure the title she won 12 months ago.

Men's winner Mark Cavendish has pulled out of the Championships due to illness.

The elite and under-23 men's course is 186 kilometres and the elite and under 23 women's course is 101 kilometres.
