March 12 - This year's Women's Road World Cup series will receive enhanced broadcast coverage it has been announced ©Getty Images The 2014 International Cycling Federation (UCI) Women's Road World Cup series will enjoy enhanced broadcast coverage this year with a number of broadcasters across Europe set to cover the events while there will also be access to the action online.

UK-based VSquared TV Limited will produce television packages for the each of the nine races in the series which have been picked up by the likes of the BBC in the United Kingdom, RAI Sports in Italy, Dutch firm NOS and Canal+ in France, to date.

As part of the increased coverage, news roundups and highlights packages will be produced and made available shortly after each of the World Cup meetings beginning with Boels Rental Ronde van Drenthe race in the Netherlands on Saturday (March 15).

The television coverage will be supplemented by the UCI YouTube channel where a trailer of the series can be viewed by clicking here.

"We are extremely fortunate to have the support of the race organisers for this initiative," said UCI President Brian Cookson. 

"Their dedication and incredible work has already had a large part to play in the growing success and popularity of women's cycling.

"By staging exciting and high-level events, they are improving its image and generating more interest from the fans.

"This is an exciting and positive year for women's cycling.

"With the launch in 2014 of La Course by Le Tour de France on the last day of the Tour de France and now this increased visibility of our leading professional women's cycling series, it is clear that real momentum is building."

Following on from the first event in the Netherlands this coming weekend, the series moves on to Italy for the Trofeo Alfredo Binda-Comune di Cittiglio before two stops in Belgium in April for the Ronde van Vlaanderen / Tour des Flandres and the La Flèche Wallonne Féminine.

The Tour of Chongming Island World Cup in China takes place in May before a three-month break after which Sweden will host the Open de Suède Vargarda TTT and the Open de Suède Vargarda in August.

They will be followed by the final event of the series in France at the GP de Plouay-Bretagne on August 30.
