Having seen their unbeaten home record come to an end in their last fixture, against unbeaten Group A leaders the Cuba Domadores, the Russian Boxing Team were aiming to get back to winning ways against a Mexico Guerreros squad who had won their last five ties.

The Guerreros continued their recent run with Joselito Velásquez Altamirano, Raul Curiel Garcia and Julio Cesar Castillo Torres earning unanimous points victories in their respective light flyweight, light welterweight and heavyweight divisions.

Vladimir Nikitin claimed a split decision win over Sergio Alfredo Chirino Sanchez in the bantamweight division and Petr Khamukov earned a technical knockout victory over Hector Octavio Aguirre Martinez in the middleweight division to reduce the arrears for the Russian Boxing Team, but it was not enough to prevent them from defeat.

The result keeps the Russian Boxing Team second in Group A, while the Mexico Guerreros' impressive form has seen them move to third, ahead of the Ukraine Otamans, who suffered a surprise 3-2 defeat away to the Morocco Atlas Lions in Casablanca.

Amine Azzouzi and Hamza El Barbari earned convincing points victories in their heavyweight and light welterweight bouts, while Mohamed Hamout's technical knockout of the Otamans' Mykola Butsenko in the bantamweight division gave the Morocco Atlas Lions victory on the night.

Elsewhere in Group A, the British Lionhearts clinched their first away win of the season with a 3-2 over the Algeria Desert Hawks in Blida, although there was disappointment for Lionhearts' middleweight Antony Fowler, after a split decision defeat to Ilyas Abbadi ended his hopes of an early Rio 2016 qualification berth.

Table toppers the Cuba Domadores whitewashed the China Dragons in Chongqing to stretch their unbeaten record to eleven, a feat replicated in Group B as the Astana Arlans Kazakhstan thrashed the USA Knockouts 5-0 in Miami.

Italia Thunder also secured a whitewash of the Argentina Condors in Milan to move into third in the Group B standings, while the Condors remain rooted to the bottom of the Group with only one win.

Victories for their overseas boxers, bantamweight Michael Conlon and light flyweight Patrick Barnes of Ireland, saw them move a step closer to earning Rio 2016 qualification berths, with the pair lying in the top two positions in their respective divisions.

Second place Azerbaijan Baku Fires earned their seventh win of the WSB season by overcoming Rafako Hussars Poland 3-2 in their away fixture in Gdańsk, while Caciques de Venezuela claimed a 3-2 triumph over the Puerto Rico Hurricanes in Caracas.
