AIBA Pro Boxing has launched a new website created by Skylab ©AIBAA new website developed by digital innovation company Skylab has been unveiled by the International Boxing Association (AIBA) ahead of the launch of its Pro Boxing competition in October.

The website has been built on an easy to use, yet highly customisable content management system, according to its creators.

It is developed on a multi-side platform to enable AIBA to manage its multiple competition sites as they are made live in the build-up to and during the Pro Boxing competition.

The first phase of the launch allows visitors to learn about AIBA Pro Boxing and its community, and they can also search and filter content most relevant to them such as news, boxer's profiles and gallery content.

It also features commercial opportunities for branding and advertising, and is currently available to view in three languages: English, Spanish and Russian.

A second phase of the website will be released later this year to coincide with start of the competition on October 24 and will allow visitors the ability to view schedules, rankings and results.

"It is an honour to work with such a prestigious sporting organisation as the International Boxing Association, which is established across 197 territories," said Manchester-based Skylab managing director Nigel Colliers.

"The development of the new website will greatly improve the reach of the sport to its spectators, who in turn will enjoy a fully interactive and more fulfilling user experience.

"Skylab was selected due to our extensive international digital sports marketing expertise and we look forward to working on developing the site in the coming months as well as getting started on the other AIBA websites."

The firm already works with a number of other sporting organisations, including British Swimming, Badminton England and English Lacrosse, as well as International Sports Federations and professional sports clubs.

AIBA public relations and communications manager Albina Krasnodemska said Skylab was chosen because they developed a website that "reflected the request for proposals requirements in the best possible way."

The inaugural AIBA Pro Boxing competition will see boxers fight professionally across 10 weight categories while being allowed to retain eligibility to take part in the Olympic Games.

A total of 80 boxers are set to take part in two initial pre-ranking competitions due to be held in late October and November, followed by ranking tournaments in December.

The champion title matches are then due to take place on January 23 and 24 and January 30 and 31 2015.

The champion and runner-up in each weight division will automatically qualify for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
