The hosts took the lead in Group A with their 82-63 victory at the Palacio Municipal de Deportes de Granada after having already beaten Iran and Egypt in the tournament.

Pau Gasol scored 26 points to go with nine rebounds and three blocks, while Sergio Rodríguez added 12 points and Juan Carlos Navarro had 10.

"It was the first opponent that we could measure our potential in the tournament," Gasol said.

"I am really pleased with the team game."

After securing their first win on the world stage in 16 years yesterday, Senegal got their second World Cup victory today, this time it was 77-75 over Croatia at Seville's Palacio Municipal de Deportes as yesterday's star Gorgui Dieng had 27 points and eight rebounds.

Greece, who will now face Croatia, matched Spain for the overall best record by beating Puerto Rico 90-79 also in Seville.

That victory also ensures them of a place in the round of 16.

Nikolaos Zisis shot seven of nine and scored 19 points for the Greeks, while Giannis Antetokounmpo had 15.

Renaldo Balkman scored 23 and José Juan Barea added 21 but it was not enough for Puerto Rico to overcome the 2006 runners up.

"We rode the wave from yesterday and got another great win," said Senegal captain Maleye Ndoye.

"It would be great to keep playing and continue to ride the wave.

"But we'll use the day to get some rest.

"And we will be focused the same for the next game against Argentina."

Argentina claimed a close 85-81 win over the Philippines, who also lost their opening match against Croatia, in Seville where Luis Scola had 19 points for the victors.

Elsewhere in Granada, Iran fell to Serbia 83-70 for their third loss in a row, while France defeated Egypt 94-55.
