doha 2011_arab_games_16-12-11December 18 - Lamine Diack, President of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), has been so impressed by the Arab Games currently underway in Doha that he believes Qatar is qualified to host the 2019 World Athletics Championships after missing out to London in the race to stage the 2017 event.

He also revealed that the IAAF will recognise the Games as official, meaning Arab athletes can compete at the World Championships and Olympic Games if their results meet qualification standards in Doha.

Diack, who attended the opening ceremony earlier this month, said: "We are confident that Qatar would host a successful IAAF event, whether the Diamond League or the World Championship."
