Pavey, who has competed on the track in three Olympics and earned a Commonwealth 5000m silver in 2006, got the nod for Daegu after finishing 19th in a time of 2 hours 28min 24sec, well inside the world and Olympic qualifying time.

The 37-year-old will be joined in the individual event at the worlds by Louise Damen - who also qualified in London - and Mara Yamauchi, who missed out through injury but has passed a fitness test at the request of UK Athletics head coach Charles van Commenee.

Susan Partridge and Alyson Dixon will also compete in Korea, although their times will only count in the team event.

No British male athlete achieved the individual qualifying time, but three have been selected for the team event.

Lee Merrien was the first British finisher in London in 14th with a personal best mark of 2:14:27, and he is joined by Andrew Lemoncello and Dave Webb.

UK Athletics head of endurance Ian Stewart said: "The positive performances at the weekend have made us able to select strong teams for the World Championships in Daegu.

"After a great European Championships in Barcelona for both the men's and women's teams, we are keeping that momentum going into the 2011 summer season."
