Nicola Okey has stepped down from her role as head of press at the London Marathon ©London MarathonHead of press for the Virgin London Marathon Nicola Okey has stepped down from her role following a restructuring of the London Marathon Limited staffing structure.

London Marathon revealed that, following a "review of its staffing structure", it has decided that "a new post of head of communications across its complete portfolio of running and cycling events is required".

Due to this, Okey has stepped down from her role following 12 years in the position.

In a statement by the London Marathon, the organisation said that it would like to "thank her for her hard work and professionalism over the last 12 years leading the press department and seven years prior to this position, in her role as an integral part of the administration of the London Marathon event."

Nick Bitel, chief executive of London Marathon added: "Nicola Okey has been a great asset to the team and worked diligently and professionally during a period of great success for the company.

"We wish her well in pursuing a new challenge."
