natlotrun2013giMarch 25 - Entry is now open for 10,000 people to take part in the second National Lottery Newham London Anniversary Run, which is due to be staged in the recently re-developed Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on Sunday, July 20.

Although work being done in the Olympic Stadium means runners will not be able to finish their run there as they did in last year's inaugural event - the first to be held in the Stadium since the London 2012 Paralympics Closing Ceremony - all of this year's successful entrants will be given "Priority Entry" to gain a place in the 2015 event which will once again finish on the track.

The event, which is being staged by Nova International on behalf of Newham Council and supported by The National Lottery, will offer a course which takes runners close to iconic venues such as the Lee Valley VeloPark, London Aquatics Centre and the Copper Box Arena.

Entrants will also enjoy views of the ArcelorMIttal Orbit, East Village and beautiful new parklands and riverways.

Brendan Foster, Chairman of Nova International, said: "The National Lottery Newham London Anniversary Run on 20 July will give people a wonderful experience of running in the newly-developed Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

"The event is bound to reignite many fantastic memories of London 2012 and we are working to make this event one of our best ever."

Applications for the five-mile 'The National Lottery Newham London Anniversary Run' are open from 10am today by clicking here.

All runners will be able to bring along friends and family members to watch the event and enjoy the surrounds of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

Newham Council has secured 1,000 adult and 300 family places for its residents to take part in the event for free.

Dennis Hone, chief executive of London Legacy Development Corporation, added: "Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park was made for events like this.

"It's all about local people - participants, their families and their friends - using and enjoying this wonderful new Park."
