The Turkish Athletics Federation (TAF) have also not picked European 100m hurdles gold medallist Nevin Yanıt, which means she will miss out on the opportunity to compete in a stadium named after her. 

Last month, it was revealed that the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) had discovered abnormalities in Çakır Alptekin's blood tests, which indicated she had been using banned performance-enhancing drugs. 

Cakir Alptekin has already served a two-year doping ban after testing positive at the World Junior Championships in 2004 as a teenage steeplechaser and a second infaction would carry an automatic lifetime suspension.

Yanit, who also won the 60m hurdles at the European Indoor Championships in Gothenburg last month, is also implicated in the scandal. 

The TAF have announced a provisional squad of more than 120 for the Games, which are due to be held between June 20 and 30 and which the centrepiece will be the Nevin Yanıt Stadium.
