According to the Jamaica Observer, Cunningham, the 32-year-old men's 800 metres runner, tested positive for pseudoephedrine, while Blake (pictured top), a 25-year-old 4x400m relay runner, tested for a substance that was not named.

The pair were summoned for an initial meeting in Kingston about the issue this week but while Cunningham appeared in person, Blake, who has previously served a nine-month drugs ban, sent a representative.

The National Senior Championships in Jamaica saw Cunningham, who trains with the MVP track club in Jamaica, claim victory in the men's 800m trials but he was not selected for the London 2012 Olympic team as he failed to secure the qualifying time for the Games.

Meanwhile, Blake finished sixth in the women's 400m final in 51.83 seconds and was selected as part of the Jamaica team for London 2012 as a relay alternate.

However, she did not compete at the Games and therefore did not receive a medal when Jamaica took bronze in the 4x400m relay behind the United States and Russia at the Olympic Stadium in Stratford.

Blake had actually criticised her omission from the preliminary rounds of the women's 4x400m relay on August 10, saying on social media that team politics were to blame.

Blake represented Jamaica at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Turkey in March, where she qualified for the semi-finals of the 400m and she also competed at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi.

The issue comes almost a year after the last high profile Jamaican doping  scandal at the end of 2011, where former Jamaican relay world champion Steve Mullings was banned for life from competing in athletics after a second doping offence.
