Frank Kugler won four Olympics medals in freestyle wrestling, weightlifting and tug of war at St Louis in 1904, making him the only competitor to win a medal in three different sports at the same Games. He claimed a silver medal in the heavyweight category in wrestling, bronze in the two hand lift and all-around dumbbell events in weightlifting and another bronze in the tug of war competition as a member of Southwest Turnverein of Saint Louis No. 2 team. He is recognised as an American by the International Olympic Committee although he was a German national at the time of the Games.

Team US archery set to have stars and stripes on bows for London 2012

July 20 - America's archery team at London 2012 will have stars and stripes imprinted onto their bows for the Olympics.The United States archers use equipment manufactured by different companies, but the different firms, Hoyt and PSE, have all agreed to incorporate the flag.
It will feature on the recurve bow for the archery competition, which is being held at Lord's Cricket Ground.
A sight company, Axcel, have also produced custom dipped sights to match the bows.
World number one Brady Ellison, the country's top contender for a gold, will therefore drop his usual pink bow in support of breast cancer.

Traditionally archery is one of the US' weaker Olympic sports.
None of their 110 medals at Beijing 2008 were in archery, and the sport was one of just five in which the US failed to win a medal.
They have improved since Beijing though as they won the team gold at the London 2012 archery test event last year.
