Campbell, winner of three Commonwealth Games gold medals at Glasgow 2014 and a further four at the Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in the Gold Coast, was a clear winner of the Australian Swimmer of the Year award, retaining the crown she won at the 2013 ceremony in Perth.

She also took home the Georgina Hope Foundation Olympic Programme Swimmer of the Year crown from the ceremony at Brisbane City Hall and was recognised by her peers with the Swimmer's Swimmer award, voted for by each swimmer on the Australian Swim team.

The 22-year-old added the Speedo Golden Moment award to her haul as a member of Australia's world record-breaking 4x100 metres freestyle relay team from Glasgow 2014, alongside sister Bronte Campbell, Melanie Wright (nee Schlanger) and Emma McKeon.

Campbell continued to reign supreme in the sprint events at the major international competitions this year and currently holds the fastest time in the world for 2014 in the 100m freestyle - 52.62sec - and equal fastest time for the 50m freestyle - 23.96 - both of which were set at the Pan Pacific Championships.

The Malawi-born Queenslander kick started her year by claiming the title of female swimmer of the meet at the BHP Billiton Aquatic Super Series in Perth, before going on to win two national titles in the 50m and 100m freestyle at the Australian Swimming Championships in Brisbane.

The Brisbane-based swimmer's seven international gold medals this year came in the 100m freestyle, the 4x100m freestyle and 4x100m medley relay events at both Glasgow 2014 and the Pan Pacific Championships, and the 50m freestyle at the Pan Pacific Championships.

Her long-time coach and mentor Simon Cusack was awarded Coach of the Year after playing an integral role in the success of Christian Sprenger, Tommaso D'Orsogna, and the Campbell sisters on the international stage this year.

All four swimmers won individual medals at the Commonwealth Games, with D'Orsogna and the Campbell sisters also taking home medals at the Pan Pacific Championships.

Other award recipients on the night included Jarrod Poort, the Georgina Hope Foundation Open Water Swimmer of the Year, and Grant Patterson, the Paralympic Programme Swimmer of the Year.

Poort claimed a silver medal in the 10 kilometres open water event at the Pan Pacific Championships, having already won national open water titles in the 5km and 10km events and the 10km race at the International Swimming Federation World Cup in Portugal.

His coach, Ron McKeon, was also recognised on the night, taking home the Open Water Coach of the Year award.

Patterson picked up an impressive six medals at the Pan Pacific Para-Swimming Championships in Pasadena, California, and set a number of new personal bests in the process.

The AIS (Australian Institute of Sport) Discovery of the Year was awarded to Australian swim team debutant Mack Horton following his outstanding breakthrough season that saw him win silver at Glasgow 2014 and bronze at the Pan Pacific Championships in the 1500m freestyle.
