The team competition is set to conclude tomorrow having started today, while the masters is due to take place on Sunday (December 14), as the world's top male bowlers compete to be crowned overall champion.

Finland lead the way after the first block of the five-player team event having broken the three-games series record of 3354 set by first squad leaders, South Korea. 

Malaysia started the block with a superb 1153 to lead Finland by eight pins in the second squad but their advantage was short-lived as the Finns scored 1131 in their second game to retake control. 

Sweden posted an excellent opening game score of 1130 and followed it up with a 1159 to close in on the leaders, while Malaysia slipped away with 1085.

Finland ended strongly with 1105 to finish the block with 3381, smashing South Korea's record by 27 pins. 

Sweden managed 1073 in their third game to settle for second with 3362, which also surpassed the newly-set record and left them 19 pins behind the Finns.

Puerto Rico gave a good account of themselves with 3285 to take up third in the squad and fourth position overall.

Last Sunday (December 7), Canada's Dan MacLelland claimed the first gold medal of the Championships after defeating Shaker Al Hassan, the third-seed from the United Arab Emirates, 256-212 in the singles final.

This was followed by success for South Korea in the doubles final on Tuesday (December 9), as Choi Bok Eum and Park Jong Woo came from behind to defeat Japan 410-396, while Denmark's Carsten Hansen, Thomas Larsen and Frederik Ohrgaard defeated the United States 647-638 in the thrilling trios final yesterday.

Meanwhile in the all-events standings, MacLelland currently holds the lead with a total of 4835 after 21 games played.

Doubles gold medallist Choi is in second with 4829 and the US's trios silver medallist Mike Fagan makes up the top three with 4798.
