Alongside the online exposure for the Championship, a series of broadcast deals have been struck.

They include an agreement with TV Tokyo, which has secured the exclusive rights to broadcast the tournament to 32 million households.

"We are very pleased to showcase the 14th Women's World Championship to the entire global audience," said International Softball Federation (ISF) President and World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) executive vice-president Dale McMann.

"The ability for the international community to access the highest level of women's softball will only enhance our capacity to drive spectator interest and the growing consumer demand of our sport."

The 10-day tournament will feature teams from Australia, Botswana, Canada, China, Chinese Taipei, Cuba, Czech Republic, Dominican Republic, Great Britain, Italy, Japan, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Russia, and the United States.

Japan are the defending champions, having beaten the US 2-1 in extra innings in Canada in 2012.

ISF and WBSC secretary general Low Beng Choo said: "This broadcast agreement helps to highlight the power and potential of softball as a promoter of women's sport, helping shape a sporting world that is more balanced and relevant to women."
