Vizer, President of both SportAccord and the International Judo Federation, is already in discussions to add more disciplines to the programme for the next Games, which he hopes will be staged on a biannual basis in the future.

"There is lots of potential for these Games," Vizer told insidethegames.

"We can grow in the future."

There are 15 sports taking part in these Games, up from 13 the last time they were staged at Beijing in 2010 with the addition here of fencing and savate, a traditional French martial art which uses the hands and feet as weapons combining elements of western boxing with kicking techniques.

"For lots of sports this is good exposure to help them promote their values," said Vizer.

A total of 18 countries are showing the SportAccord World Combat Games live on television

The event is being broadcast live on 18 television channels in Latin America, Canada, United States, China, Russia, Malaysia, Romania and the Pan-Middle East.

The biggest broadcaster is the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU), who are showing the event on 11 of their channels. 

Universal Sports Network, owned by Olympic broadcaster NBC, are also covering the Games to 40 million households in the US, while in France it is being shown on three different platforms, including highlights on Canal +.

In addition, there will be daily highlights on nine media channels in countries such as Japan, Ukraine,Hong Kong and Croatia.

J-Sports Japan as well as DD Sports India, the largest broadcaster in the world - based on viewers - will air daily highlights of the Games post-event.

"The concept of the World Combat Games has been well received by broadcasters globally," said Daniel Franck, the joint chief executive of IEC, who are helping SportAccord with its broadcast services.

"We have been pleased to work closely with the Russian state broadcaster VGTRK and with SportAccord to create a television product that is high quality, relevant and ensures the best action from all 15 sports is seen."

SportAccord President Marius Vizer is already planning to expand the size and scale of the World Combat Games, hoping to hold the next edition in 2015

Vizer, who has only been involved in the organisation of these Games for four months having been elected as President of SportAccord at the end of May, has already identified several key areas in which the Games can be improved in future.

Particularly disappointing here has been the distribution of tickets. 

"The Russian Government and its partners has made lots of investments and efforts, but lots of details are missing, which in future will be corrected," said Vizer.
