"Run for a reason" will see 50 members of the Antalya Volunteers Association (Antalya Gönüllüleri Dernegi) slip on their running shoes.

The run, on Sunday (April 6) in the Turkish resort of Belek/Antalya, will mark a day designed to recognise the positive impact sport can play in advancing human rights and social and economic development.

April 6 was chosen as the date for the celebration by the Union Nations after its General Assembly in August.

"Through the years, this date shall become universal, a day dedicated to sport practices where everybody, from global to local, commits to promote social positive impact through sport, and sport will truly become a tool to build better society," said SportAccord President Marius Vizer.

The Antalya Volunteers Association was founded in 2010 to unite people living in the city in a social and cultural setting.

It focuses on people with disabilities, youth, environment, arts, culture and employment.

The run, which sets off at 2pm GMT (4pm local time), will involve either children which benefit from the Association's activities, or volunteers of the Association.

The SportAccord International Convention at the Susesi Convention Centre is due to run until April 11.

It will encompass congresses and general assemblies of more than 100 International sports federations.
