Impeccable shooting was the recipe for success for the 23-year-old in Finland as she was on point with each of her shots to finish almost a minute ahead of her team-mate Liudmyla Liashenko in the biathlon sprint women's standing race.

The Ukrainian's time of 19min 27.08sec was not only a minute quicker than that of Liashenko, it was also two quicker than that of home favourite Maija Jarvela, who, despite settling for bronze, has had a hugely successful week at the IPC World Cup.

The men's biathlon sprint standing event was a race of raw speed after all top six finishers shot a perfect round on the range.

Ihor Reptyukh showed the best form on the snow and recorded his second win of the World Cup, finishing in a time of 20:26.3 across the 15 kilometres.

The Ukrainian beat France's Benjamin Daviet and Russia's Paralympic champion Vladislav Lekomtcev into second and third with times of 20:47.8 and 21:14.5 respectively.

The IPC World Cup in Vuokatti was the first World Cup of the 2014-2015 season.

More than 100 skiers from 12 made the trip to Finland as they set their sights on the IPC Nordic Skiing World Championships, due to be held in Cable, the United States from January 23 to February 1.
