After racking up eight goals in their first outing against the Swedes, Russia continued their goal-spree on home ice, sweeping aside the challenge of the Nagano 1998 champions, who also claimed bronze at Vancouver 2010.

Vasilii Varlakov was the star man for the hosts, registering four goals, with Evgeny Petro and Dmitry Lisov also impressing for the World Championship bronze medallists.

Lillehammer 1994 champions Sweden had the chance to put their thrashing by Russia behind them as they took on the Czech Republic.

Despite going behind to an early Zdenk Krupicka strike, the Swedes recovered to take a 2-1 lead thanks to a brace from Niklas Ingvarsson.

However, just a minute later the scores were tied again as Jiri Berger fired home.

That was as good as it got for the men in yellow as the Czechs took control in the third and final period with Berger and David Motycka finding the net to see their side run out 4-2 winners.

The action in Podolsk is due to continue tomorrow, as all four sides continue their preparations for Sochi 2014.
