Warmer temperatures have resulted in insufficient snow being available to build the courses for the remaining events which were due to be held in Slovenia and Italy.

The World Cup event in the Slovenian city of Maribor was due to have concluded today and would have taken the total number of World Cup events this season to five.

Additionally the World Cup Finals, due to be held at San Martino di Castrozza in Italy from March 9 until 12 will also not take place, less than a month after it was announced that the event would be held in the Dolomites.

It is not the first occasion warm weather conditions have played a factor in the snowboard programme this year, as it had been feared that the World Championships held at La Molina in Spain last month could have been affected, requiring organisers to form contingency plans.

The World Championships ultimately were uninterrupted by the warmer weather, however the World Cup and World Cup Finals have not proved as fortunate, having now been cancelled with seemingly no prospect of being rearranged.
