Haraus, accompanied by guide Maros Hudik, used a good performance in the Super-G to good effect, as by finishing more than a second faster than the rest of the field, they were able to maintain an advantage in the slalom to win the visually impaired event in 1min 39.85 secs.

They were followed by Krako and his guide Martin Motyka in second, while double Sochi gold medallist and IPC Athlete of the Month for December nominee Valerii Redkozubov was in third.

There was also an upset in the men's standing class as Paralympic champion Alexey Bugaev did not finish his slalom run, allowing his fellow Russian Alexander Alyabyev to take victory in 1:39.79 ahead of Austria's Christoph Schneider and New Zealand's Adam Hall.

Paralympic and world silver medallist Andrea Rothuss recorded fastest times in both the Super-G and slalom runs to dominate the women's standing event

In the sitting race Claudia Loesch, the reigning world champion, finished in first place by a comfortable margin posting a time of 1:49.51, to defeat Momoka Muraoka of Japan, with Ruth Hagspiel of Germany third.

The equivalent men's race saw Japan on top of the Europa Cup podium through the world champion Taiki Morii, who won a very closely fought competition.

The race was so close that Austria's Roman Rabl and Germany's Thomas Nolte could not be separated, with both men being awarded second place clocking a time of 1:40.83.

The skiers are all building up to the 2015 IPC Alpine Skiing World Championships, taking place in Panorama, Canada from February 28 to March 10.

Action continues in Matrei tomorrow.
